RealOEM shows that the crossmember is for a Getrag 260.
Also says that it could certainly be from an E28 535. Does it look like #2 here?

Hey everyone,
I don't post much but I lurk allot![]()
Anyhoo, have a 535iA that has a manual. The PO converted it to a manual roughly 2 years ago (about 10 months after I bought it) drives fine and all but it's just where this gearbox came from that puzzles me. PO said it was from an E28 with an M30 engine.
Have a few part-numbers here which may help (I've searched all of these on realoem.com with no avail):
2600105091 This number is part of the gearbox. As in it was part of the cast when manufactured
NG004669 This number has been stamped onto a flat surface on the box (very neatly like what you'd expect from the factory).
And finally 1128517 this number is on the cross brace of the box. With a search on realoem.com it shows that it could be from a number of E28's or an E24. Though it looks like this part has been modified by the PO to suit the E34 bolt hole positions on the body.
Brief description - Aluminium, round in shape (E34 5 speeds were a 'square' shape) and both the drain and fill plugs are 24mm diameter with 17mm in-hex sockets. That's about it really. It mates onto the engine fine....and as I said it drives fine. How can I confirm where this thing comes from?![]()

The part number on the tranny should bet a 7 or 11 digit number. You found a 10 digit number which looks like it's something other than the BMW part number.Originally Posted by Ken35i
A BMW part number that starts with 26 would be a drive shaft part #. So you just haven't found the BMW part number on it yet. I don't know my Getrags well enough to tell you where to look for it.

Ok well found another part number on it. Was on the 'back' of the box just infront of the cross-brace.
2600106090 - 10 digits, similar to the other number on it. Same result on RealOEM. This is:S
