E34 standard alarm system

So living in crime ridden South Africa poses some challenges.

After thinking that my new 525i didn't have an alarm at all, I was horrified at the prospect of having someone hacking into the wiring to have an after market unit installed. I was relieved to find that some sort of standard system was installed.

So tell me about the standard system... I tested it by winding down the drivers window, locking the doors from the outside and then proceeding to try and start the car with the key. Car went ballistic with sirens and what not.

Read in the booklet that alarm will also sound when the car is moved whilst locked / alarm armed.

Will the alarm sound if windows are broken? We get a lot of theft out of cars - radio's and other valuables.

dunno which alarm is standard in SA, but here it has door monitoring and glass break sensor. if it has the circle on the left that is the glass beak microphone


no motion sensor here.
