Except it doesn't hold anything that's wider than a soda can.

If it is the same one that Bav auto sells, I would not get it for spirited driving. I had a cup of starbuxx in the car and took a turn and the thing slipped off spilling my coffie all over the passanger seat and floor.

They don't really hold anything for ANY driving. Even a fairly light turn can knock the thing over, especially if the drink is tall. They came with my car but unless you find a way to actually mount them so they won't move (I think someone on the board screwed it into the center console) they're not so great. And yes, wider drinks don't work either...

For this very reason is why I do not allow drinks in my E34. I know no one means to spill their drinks, so if you do not allow them in your car then you do not have to worry about destroying the interior. NO DRINKS ALLOWED!

Just like I have never understood why cars have ashtrays in them.

    say what?
the tranny tunnel is less than an inch below that, along with a buttload of wiring and noise insulation.

I have the bmw one and it is fine... though many drinks don't fit, the skinny 24oz do and 12 oz cans. A little Goop and you don't have to worry about it flying off during cornering

My only issue is that i need a short shifter and a normal shift knob
my OEM lever with the auto's t handle stuck atop it hits anything in the holder when I go to 5th.

I use the ultimate cup holder. It holds just about anything at some pretty g forces. Its also low profile enough that it doesn't really interfere with anything. Can be used LHD/RHD with no problems.

Shame there are no RHD versions of this. I have to resort wedging the soft drink bottle into the centre console
