    As far as I know, ECU/DMEs are NOT specific to transmission type.

    Therefore, just get a ............404 and chip it up

    Default Chipping an ECU - Does it have to be Auto or Manual?

    I want to get an extra ECU, and chip it for my 540 6spd manual --- does the ECU have to be from a manual car, or will any #404 ECU work, since I'm going to chip it?

    I'm assuming that any programming specific to Automatic cars will be held in the chip --- so all I need is the right ECU serial number (404 in this case), but auto or manual doesn't matter.

    Thanks!

    auto / manual dont matter same chip but if you can get the rev limit raised this helps on a manual but not so on auto

    ECU=same, chip=different programming.

    YES RLY
    same programing on chips- just not worth getting a raised rev limit on auto- so as not to blow tranny- EAT have 3 different rev limits on the chip for my car - all will work but i wouldnt want to leave myself suscepable to blowing up my transmisson

    I'm pretty suer, not certain, that the ecu is independent of the transmission also.
