Replace f filter make '89 525 run stronger? How bout if filter not changed last 130K? No performance figures for comparison but seat of pants say yes.

Great news!!

I haven't replaced mine in the 100k I've owned it (plus the ???K prior to that). Think I should I enroll in a driving school? Maybe beef up the suspension or get some bigger brakes?

it certainly can, though i think that after the computer relearns the strategy, your gains might get smaller/disappear. (cough) certain people are pre-disposed to running cars low on gas. i have to change the fuel filter on the taurus once every 6 months or so or it lets me know with sputtering on hills or after sharp turns.
