Default :: Aspherical mirror glass for drivers side, left

    Replacing driver side glass.

Are the left and right same part number?

I see one local, but no numbers or anything.

    Drivers side is left.

The heating element connector is in the right position, but I thought the sliver should be on the outside and not on the inside edge?

On the e39 both parts are the same number. Be warned some non-OEM mirror glass has the heater cables in the wrong place and needs a small extension to the main door loom.

You are correct in assuming that the thin section of glass (Silver) goes to the OUTSIDE edge.

On the e38 the mirrors are not asymmetric, so rotating the glass by 180 degrees alters between left and right side. From memory the e34 glass is similarly symmetric.

Yep. I just said 'screw it' and rotated the mirror. I just pulled the leads around to the other side for heating. Good enough for now.
