    Default :: e39 key

    After the battery fiasco, which I still haven't sorted out, the master key no longer starts the car.

    It went something like this... Battery low... Remote unlocks door halfway... Manually open door. Boost battery (not sufficient to start car) alarm goes off. Hookup and boost car with another... No start. All electrics on, but no starter. Did everything like searching for key sequence to disable EWS, but in a fit, I tried the secondary key. Started up right away.

    Tried master key again, no go. All the remote functions and doors unlock with it but no start. All the others key start it, including the dinky thin plastic one.

    What gives?

    Sounds like your need to have the master key tought to the factory security immoblizer. The dealer will have to do this. I am assuming this is for a e39 and not your e34?

    I have seen this happen several times during dead battery cars and jumped cars.
