Default center vent cold air issue-Help!!

Note: from responses on another forum, this does appear to be a problem.

Shouldn’t the lower center lever control the amount of air coming out of the center vents and door vents? It does not seem to be case in my car. Even when the vent lever is closed there is a large amount of air coming out the center dash vents. I currently close the vents, yet some air seeps out around the closed dash top grill and inside the dash.

Any idea’s where to start? Of course I am assuming that almost no air should come through the vents when the lover sliding level is closed.

    TIA
    Thanks,
