Default '89 525 leaking oil at both ends of engine.

'89 525 oil leaks. Had three. One down, two to go.

Used Winfred's tip to "crimp the factory clamp tighter" to stop PS leak at the reservoir (see my thread).

Have two engine oil leaks. One seems to be from the rear main and maybe one from the front seal. Engine has 166k. Is that the "they all do that" mileage point, or could something be pressurizing the crankcase to push the oil out. Oil use one quart between syn changes at 7.5k.

    Leak may have started recently.

'85 535 with comparable mileage is dry as a bone.

I have a 1989 525i w/ 167k miles. When I purcahsed it with 150k something miles it had (has) both front and rear oil leaks. The timing belt was unknown for repalcement so I pulled the front apart and changed the water pump, timing belt, tensioner, oil pan seal, and all shaft seals. Most of the seals were fairly rigid and worth replacement.

I haven't pulled the transmission from the motor yet, but there is a slight oil leak from back there, not too much though.
