    Default E36 325is question--hanging wire & probe

Hanging from the driver's side front under the bumper and just behind the fog light is a skinny wire with what looks like a temp. sensor. It has a probe ~7/8" long and ~1/16" thick.

What is this thing and where does it go?

(I just bought the car and am not yet familiar with it, nor have shop manual. Sorry to post on the 5 series site, but there's not much traffic on the 3 series section.)

Do you have an OBC, i.e., an Onboard Computer gadget that shows you fuel mileage, exterior temperature, and suchlike? If so, what you've found is the exterior temperature sensor. On an E34, it clips into a slot in the front bumper beside the foglight.

probably the temp probe, it fits into a hole in the left brake duct, if the duct is gone you can just zip tie it to the foglight wire and it'll be fine
