Default Front dash speaker blown out.

Okay, so here's my problem. So my amp that's connected to my sub was sliding around in my trunk (please don't ask why I didn't have it secured), and when the ground wire disconnected from it, the fuse blew and as a result, the speaker on my dash on my driver's side (the one close to the windshield) blew out. I just opened it up today and found that it's a 2.5" speaker (???). Is that something I can only get from the BMW dealership, or does anyone know where I can find a new one?

Also, how the hell to you unscrew the dang thing if it's like 5 inches from the windshield? I need like a short fat philips to do it. Sigh....

Oh, and thanks in advance, you guys are great here.

$99.99 + shipping for 2.5" coaxials??? Who are these guys? I could get a set of decent 6" components at that price. Deeeeeeeeeyum.

Thanks for the help tho attack eagle, I'll definitely keep that in mind.

So I guess if anybody's parting out their E34, if you got a decent 2.5" midrange speaker, let me know!

Well, I just bought the bavarian soundworks replacements by happenstance. Got the tool kit too, just cause.

If you want my old ones, I can send them to you. They aren't blown out as far as I know. I'll replace mine within the next month or so as I'm busy at work. Just pm me your address and I'll see what the ups postage/box costs and ship them to you.

I have had these speakers installed(http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/pr...=593/_cid=323), as well as swapped out all of the other 5.25 speaker with Infinity from here:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1166234894439

Got the recommended Infinity 468Watt 4 channel amp here:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1173577734466

Got a capacitor, about the size of a green bean can, which I think is a rockford fosgate here:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1174091578878

Got it rewired to my alpine mp3 CDA-68xx head unit.

They didn't need soundproof matting as BMW's seem to be sound insulated already.

They recommended a small subwoofer just to add some bass, which I might do later. So 6 speakers replaced, and 2 from bavarian soundworks. I had them(best buy) install everything and got a full warranty on everything. I think I blew $1200 on this all together. I think it sounds pretty decent, but I'm not an audiophile. I can hear the music clearly with no cracking/popping, so that's all I wanted.

This upgrade has brought out something that I might have to address soon. The alternator has a high pitched squeal when I turn the radio on and rev the engine. I think the added load is bringing out it's age. Gonna replace him too.

I would post pictures, well, I'll post pictures after I get an Infinity subwoofer installed. It'll be something to look at then. Everything looks OE on the inside, which is just as I wanted it.

You sure the noise is underhood? It could be whine in the speakers from the install. best buy likes to twist the wires and bundle up the harnesses for a "nicer install"

ON my e34 Once I "untwisted" the speaker and power wires and laid them out flat it was fine.

I'll check back at the store and ask them to diagnose it and make it right.
