i need help. im building a intake system for my e34 520i. im useing a 3inch pipeing but my afm is not 3inch. i want to know if i could pull it apart and bolt it on to the pipeing and how do i do it?

No, don't take the AFM apart ... it needs to stay in its factory housing to function correctly.
As Torque says, you can't disassemble the AFM unit. It is calibrated to YOUR engine and any significant changes to it will instantly ruin the mixture. I have played with my AFM & intake over the last 5 years or so, along with some other guys here on the forum and I can happily tell you that you won't gain a single BHP - it is easier to lose power than dial up some more. This sounds like some dodgy Vauxhall/GM trick to me lol!
