Hey guys I didn't get to post what I got done this weekend because Bimmer.info was down it seemed.
Anyway, the oil pump nut is welded and everything in the bottom end is good to go!
I had issues with tracking down my old hardware - I put everything in labeled bags but the oil form the parts completely ruined the labeling. Rather than sit for hours with a caliper measuring oil old bolts/nuts to see what goes where, I decided to order nearly every single bolt on the engine brand new from this dealer that someone recommended to me online. $80 - $90 later, my parts should be shipped to me this week. I might nickel plate the ones that can be seen, we'll see!
But, here are some pictures to give everyone an idea of howthis thing turned out!
I had forgot that the crank pulley was hideous, and the upper timing cover thing had been forgotten in terms of coating... so I did those while at the shop. I chose a "stainless steel gray" for the crank wheel because we didn't have any satin black or gloss black at the time, and I didn't want to do it in silver, needed some contrast:
The valve cover is going to be redone in wrinkle black, the oil filter housing top is wrinlke black and alternator in wrinkle black. It should really make the engine contrast and stand out!
Thanks for looking!
