you ought to be alright with two gallons. Make sure you don't buy the 50/50 crap, buy straight antifreeze and mix it yourself. You'll probably only need one gallon of antifreeze and one gallon of water, but get two to be sure.
On my way to make a late night run to Wal-mart and wondering how much coolant is needed if i completely drain the system? i know 11quarts for the radiator but not full system.

The number just seemed low to me, Guess i am to use to dealing with other engines that were a little bigger and needed more.

I've found the right stuff (BMW Blue) from the dealer is cheaper than anything the box stores sell. That and filters are actually good buys at the stealer.Do Wal-mart sell BMW Blue ?
Wrong stuff can cause big problems. Do a search. Don't kill your car.

Amen to that... I just use the OEM radiator stuff, mix it 50/50 with distilled water (you can also use water out of a dehumidifier if you want to save a couple pennies) and you are good to go.
Aftermarket anti-freeze in BMW engines makes baby Jesus cry.
Well there is green in it right now [Not my doing, was there when i got the car] So going to blue isnt a problem for me. but is the ammount i posted right?
I usually use 1 gallon of blue, 1 gallon of distilled water.
