Default Eat your heart out Jon K. Here's a REAL mod.

I've always believed that everyone should drive at least one car that gets so old and rusty the muffler falls off. At the same time, though I've been doing everything I can to prevent the actual spark flinging embarrassment from happening to me. My exhaust system has reached a point where the new hangers no longer do any good because the brackets one would attach the hangers to have rusted off. Thus, my latest "repair." When I noticed my rear muffler hanging down by the ground the other day, I simply grabbed as much random **** from my garage as I could to reattach it to the car.

So to hold up the back end, I've got a chain, random bracket things, a bunch of wire, and zip ties for good measure. It puts a smile on my face to think about how ridiculous this is, especially since it works.....so far. I can't wait to get a different E34.

When I first looked at it, it looked like you installed a magnet and it was collecting metal off the street.

    Hahaha that is pretty hot

I like the nylon wire tie for flexibility and the bailing wire for security

The whole lot cost me about £16 (that works out at around 25-30 USD) from the dealer about 3 weeks ago - not quite sure why they gave me four nuts though, only two are needed...

Yeah... 'spose so.... Both the manual & the TIK I have here only show one nut, and if you look at the pic of the new ones you can see that they have a skirt on them. The bottom of the skirt is grooved (I guess there's a real name for them) to stop them coming undone...

Oh well, at least I have a couple of nuts spare!!!
