Oil Change for 2001 740il

we use M1 10/30 in and change it around 6k, pretty straight forward put 7 quarts in start it for a minute, kill it and after a minute check the level, drain it hot for the best dump, loosen the filter cap (36mm) so it will drain while the oil is draining

I haven't checked any books but is the oil filter cannister located on the driver's side firewall? It looks like it has a large hex head on top of the cap.
