In the electronics box on the pass side there are three relays. Fuel pump is the one in the middle. Common failure too.
My e34 (94 540i) wouldn't start. Turn over and over, but no starting.
I checked the spark, and it was OK, checked the fuel line, and I wasn't getting any gas.
So... I came on here, and everyone recommended to change the fuel pump.
I JUST did that, and I'm now charging the battery, then I'm going to give it a try.
Just ran across another site, and it said it could be the "fuel pump relay", and not the fuel pump itself. I guess I'm about to find out anyway (when I try and start it), but for backup reasons, where exactly is the fuel pump relay??

"The gas pedal wouldn't go to the floor if it weren't meant to be there"
It was the fuel pump. I'm stoked I actually changed it out with no problems, and it worked (and I actually enjoyed doing it).
I thought for sure it wasn't going to start.
It feels good when you work on your own car and you get it fixed yourself.
Keep up the good work![]()
