i remember when someone (can't remember who, ford or a outsider with ford support) took one when they were fairly new and lowered it's air suspension, removed the speed limiter and installed salt tires and ran something around 190 mph at bonneville with no other real mods

The Mark VIII was not built on the Fox platform, it was built on the FN10 platform, which was a variant on the MN12 platform. The FN10 platform began in 1993 and ended in 1998. Hardly ancient. The Mark VIII also had an aluminum engine, with the block cast by Teksid in Italy, generating 290 hp from 4.6 litres, with 32 valves. Mine trapped 102 mph in the 1/4, after some minimal upgrades.
The 1993 Mustang was the last car to be built using the Fox platform. Very different platforms.
