blue doesnt look too bad. some of the new pioneers nowdays look good in our BMWs. I had a pioneer unit in my M3. looked OEM and sounded awesome, a lot better than the 2 blaupunkts I have had.

my ol sony had a similar "blue face" to yours but i stripped it down and inserted some coloured lighting film and now its all orange![]()
the unit was actually silver so i painted it black as well- so dont be put off by wrong colour screen or unit -you can change them

That looks very good. I give you props on that one, very creative. Did you put tape over the buttons or vasoline? I heard vasoline will not allow the paint to bond to the plastic.Originally Posted by kev535i

as its a detachable face it was easy to strip down, just a few screws, all the buttons are seperate pieces and i left them silver and just painted the chassis black the bottom row of buttons are one piece and black, the only thing i had to mask was the sony logo which i did with tape

nice, but what type of paint did you use? how expensive of a job was it? where would i get that plastic film from as the lcd is blue so id rather it be red....very creative...would red cellophane do they same job or would it make all murky and unreadable

paint was just a cheap can of matt black- i work in music / corporate a/v area and the coloured film is used in lighting you only need a small piece a visit to a rock lighting company might get you a bit for free-cellophane may work but hard to colour match

I had one similar to this in may last e34:

The panel is a gimmick but it does look good for the price, good on features considering its age, great powerful sound, no real connectivity tho. Mine lit up red when you opened the panel.
Kev535i - thats a sterling job! looks the biz, you're a brave man!
