I don't see an increase with the filter and exhaust.. mainly due to the AFM in the M30. Upgrade to a MAF and you may see something.. I wouldn't say 240-250.. but something around 220-225
Hey guys, my m30 needs a new head gasket. I ran a compression test about half a year before it failed and got a 30psi difference at most (165 - 130). I was told it was due to bad rings, hope it was just head related :S anyway, I was wondering what kind of power i could get from it with a Jim C chip, K&N filter, free flow exhaust, and raised compression (by shaving the head)? Im hoping for 240-250hp, is this realistic?

Why rebuild? I have a 1991 with 110,000 miles with the head gasket already done by BMW dealer at 90k. If you are in Toronto its a six hour drive away. Price is only 600 which would be cheaper then your rebuild. Use the money you save for chip exhaust ect.....This one already has K&N.Originally Posted by Mitster

the only thing i wouldnt be doing myself is planing the head, but this is no bid deal since I live in an industrial town where the closest machine shop is just down the street. I can have someone do it under the table for probably around 50 bucks. Im just interested to know if anyones done this and has some actual numbers for it. The earlier euros had higher compression and were makin 218hp, in comparrsion with 182hp in north america at the time. Im thinkin i'd bring it up to 10.5:1, does any have an idea as to what the late m30 would do with that compression?
