    Default M50 Oil Pan Removal

I think that I have removed all the bolts that hold on the oil pan yet it still will not come off.

I have put a putty knife in between the oil pan and the engine block except in two places. On the passenger side of the oil pan where it meets the block also on the bell housing toward the passenger's side. I still do not see or feel any bolts. The oil pan it binding up on the passenger's side where it meets the bell housing.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

You have the engine lifted? I saw pics of this job recently i think and in addition to dropping the bell housing the engine was pulled up a bit ..

There are 2 openings on the bottom of the trans bellhousing, about 3" apart. There are 2 more long hex head bolts (10 mm socket) that attach the back of the pan to the block. Just did one Monday. I unbolted the motor mounts, dropped the subframe/suspension & hoisted the front of the motor as high as it would go & the pan slid out without having to detach the pick-up tube. Remove the dipstick tube, it has a single bolt on a tab and a friction fit o-ring into the top of the sump & pulls straight out with a little twisting.

    I feel your pain!
