No idea about the first, maybe look at the wiring diagram using the wire colors... It could easily be an uninstalled option, wiring harnesses often have the plugs for everything even if not installed, such as rear fog lights, etc.

In case that you want to buy one, you need the white flashlight from BMW, which fits for example also on E32, E30 and E34, the other one has a black housing and fits on E38.
They are not interchangeable, as the plug socket is different.
