Parts compatability E36 & E34 window regulator

I need a new electric window winder regulator assembly for the rear left hand door on my 1995 model 525. I have the BMW part as 51 34 1 944 063.
Motor works fine but the plastic gear inside the black round case assembly is buggered.

I can find a left hand unit on ebay that is from a 1997 model E36. It looks the same ...........but is it?

e36 not same, depending on how the plastic gear broke i've fixed them by screwing the metal part to the plastic part, striped teeth or split in half it's ****ed, if the metal disc doesn't turn with the plastic gear any more it can be screwed, 3-4 short screws that don't go all of the way out the back side into the case

unfortunately the plastic gear is split. At least I know they are not the same.
