help engine assembly question

the small indentation on the pistion is that supposed to be for the exhaust valve ?

I don't know for sure- but on all BMW engines I've ever worked on, there is a small arrow in the piston top that should point towards the front of the car when installed properly. Do yours have this??

Also, I would ASSume that the cutout is for the larger of the intake or exhaust valves- isn't that the intake in this case??

Correct the larger valve is the intake. Im leaning twards that as well. I ordered these from JE piston and do not see any arrow I wish they were there...
