Took the cover back off and poke the glass with my finger and discovered it was cracked. Also found out it is not glass at all it some kind of plastic. If I were to guess I would say it is a speaker but the weirdest looking speaker I have ever seen. If it is a speaker what is the purpose of the ball in the center of the cone? Guess its time to change out all of the speakers.

In 89, BMW experimented with using a borosilicate/plastic composite dash speaker. I've heard of purists paying $2500. for one of the original ''boroplast'' speakers... not sure if yours could get any cash though -- since it's broken and you fingerpoked it.

Was cleaning the dash and had removed the speaker grill on the left side of the dash expecting to see a speaker but no I found a glass ball. Whats up with that?
