Fix your car first... your cat burned up because something is wrong with your engine... maybe bad fuel injector... need test to determine what caused cat to burn up.
Hello all
The cats on my 540i touring are noisy, especially when cold. They are not damaged on the outside, but appear to be loose inside. Will this affect performance ?
Also I read someone say that magnaflow do cats for $90. Is it possible to get these in the UK ? Also do you know what model I would need ?
thanks very much
phil

No... not when it is rattling inside the cat. That is definite sign of fuel burning inside the cat.
e39/e38 cars have terrible problems with the Cats coming apart. Nothing else really wrong with the car. My Indy only uses BMW factory cats as the others have a tendency to start rattling a year after installation. OEM is pricey at basically a $1k a side.
