Lets say it gives me the warning 6-7 times a week. Basically every time I start her. But it's for the most part still full. If I have 3 weeks of bad traffic and long hours on the road (she's my daily driver at the mo) she does seem to lose half of the expansion tank's fluid. I'm guessing that there is some issue with the sensor and by chance there is a leak that started at almost the same time, all be it not a bad leak.
Should I just replace the sensor and see what happens?
Dude, it's your heater core - I have the same exact symptoms. You can change the sensor and you might get it less, because I know my sensor is whacked out too, but you definately have a leak.
After I top it, I usually can smell it a little inside the car. The thing is, you have to tear apart the dash hardcore, and that's serious labor costs - so theres no point.
