I have problem with my cooling system in that everytime I start the car it gives me the Coolant Level low error. Eventhough its not low. Yet I do think there is some coolant escaping somewhere 'cause once a month I do have to top her up. Would this kit be overkill to fix my problem?

Might be underkill if it doesn't fix the problem. Find the leak, then find the solution.

The bogus Coolant Level message can be due to corroded connections on the sensor. Or the sensor might have failed. The float can pop off, or it can absorb road salt from below and completely dissolve internally.

If it isn't low when you look at it with the warning, then the sensor is most likely at fault. Now, you 'think' there is a leak somewhere so let's quantify it... how much are you 'topping off' and what's the interval?

Lets say it gives me the warning 6-7 times a week. Basically every time I start her. But it's for the most part still full. If I have 3 weeks of bad traffic and long hours on the road (she's my daily driver at the mo) she does seem to lose half of the expansion tank's fluid. I'm guessing that there is some issue with the sensor and by chance there is a leak that started at almost the same time, all be it not a bad leak.

Should I just replace the sensor and see what happens?

Ironically i saw some dried coolant on my upper hose last week, thought i had a pin hole in the hose. When really it seems like my connectors had already cracked and where waiting to explode.

Dude, it's your heater core - I have the same exact symptoms. You can change the sensor and you might get it less, because I know my sensor is whacked out too, but you definately have a leak.

After I top it, I usually can smell it a little inside the car. The thing is, you have to tear apart the dash hardcore, and that's serious labor costs - so theres no point.

Or do it yourself, so there's no labour costs. It's an easy but boring way to spend a weekend.
