    Default Minivan (Slightly OT)

I was looking for a used minivan 'cause my 2nd baby is due next month and my parents will come and stay with me for a while. I ran into a Oddessy forum and found out that most Oddy tranny went at such a low mileage (~30Kmiles in some cases). See link below.

I can't believe honda tranny is so weak these days. I was always under an impression that japanese tranny will last a long long time.

Compared this to our E34 tranny, ours are much better. See my old tread on this topic below. My fingers crossed

The autos in the late 90s early 00s Hondas suck.

Stepmom has an '03 Sienna, everything you could want from an appliance. Seriously, nothing wrong with 65k.

Yeah, my wife is driving 02 CRV. The CRV forum did not mention much about tranny issue though. Only TBP sensor which when goes bad, you will have to change the whole TB assembly ($800, what a good design). And this could go bad as early as 30k.

I will look at a used Sienna or Quest instead.

My Dad has had 2 Oddessy vans, no problems at all. Just got his latest 9 months ago, the other went to my brother and the only issues are the electric sliding doors that sometimes mess up.

Found another Oddy tranny poll tread. 34% went bad <=100k. Statistics really tells a story here.

That's wild. I had heard of the problem in Accords, didn't know the Oddys had a problem with it...Acuras were affected as well.

The tranny specifically for the V6 were bad. Even in the Acura CL, Honda Accord. Other trannys were not affected. I think they stretched the warranty out to 100kmi. As long as they take care of the problems, it shouldn't be a minus.

This is the same as the Camry V6s engine problems with slush in the same period. Although I've heard that the engines only have this problem if oil were not changed on time.
