I know there are some around here who have rebuilt their power steering pumps. Mine is a '90 (M20). Any tricks or special tools needed? Degree of difficulty?

what were the symptoms of your going out?

It was making a loud groaning noise whenever you turn the wheel. I replaced the resevoir tank, properly bled it and still had th noise with a lot of bubbles/foaming.
The reason I want to replace or rebuild the pump is, I notice one of the mounting bolts was missinf which caused the pulley from the pump to be slightly out of alignment, on an angle.
The belt broke the other day and I figure the added stress on the pulley/shaft of the pump may have caused it to suck air into the system. Of couse, it could also be bad hoses.
