    Default A/C fan not working

Yesterday I noticed that my A/C fan is not working because part of insulation fell between fan and pipes an stuck in.
I removed it and tried - fan not turning, I tried connecting it directly to power and it works, when I plug it in - it doesn't work.
Checked all fuses - they all seem all right, and I can't descover why it does not gets power.
Any clues and where else should I look ?

Check the relais. Maybe that is blown now.
Usually the relais switches between low and high speed.
And change the fuse no matter if it looks good or not, just to make sure.

    Thanks, Shogun.
Please tell me which relay and fuse, because there are several fuses that I found regarding A/C, which one controls aditional electric fan on A/C radiator?
    Also for relay?

I forgot to say that my A/C seems to be newer than my car, because my brother has the same one and his car is 1995. mine is 1992, it has additional plastic electric fan with curved spikes.

I am not that familiar with the E34. In my E32 it is in the e-box on the right of engine room. But yoy can find that out here in the wiring diagrams under power distribution where all relais are shown
    http://shark.armchair.mb.ca/~dave/BMW/e34/
Also what each fuse is for.
I once had it that my aux fan only ran on low. Just had to change the relaiy and all was o.k.
On my car the connection of the switch is at the right side of the radiator. I removed that plug and bridged the 3 pin connector and it ran for a test on low and high, depending how I connected the pins.

Or maybe someone with better knowledge on the E34 can chime in.

Yes, I tried connecting the pins and it worked, but should fan always work in lower speed, and then switch to higher when car gets hot, or doesn't work till car gets hot and then engages, because that's what happened yesterday when they filled my A/C, and car worked for an half of hour, got a little hot and fan engaged. Is cable from radiator sensor the only way to engage additional fan?

As far as I understand it only kicks in when a certain temperature is reached when the aircon is not on.
When aircon is on, it should run always (maybe someone can correct me). There are 2 different switches available for normal climate and warmer climates

But again, that is my experience from the E32 750, maybe it is different on the E34.

Yes, explaining much, but I don't have that relay box in front of the left shock tower, that's where my air filter is... Still can't find fan relays...

I just changed out the low speed rectifier that attaches to the aux. fan. A piece of rubber molding got stuck in fan and blew fuse and the rectifier. It is the ribbed one attached to the side of the fan. Twenty five bucks from BMA and now when I turn on air it works.
