E34: Head shield atop exhaust manifold?

for the m50 small six engines, do they have head shield screwed atop the manifold - i saw some fixing nuts so i thought mine might be missing something?

i've never seen anything bolted there in 10 years of salvaging bmws

never seen one either... wish there was one on hot summer days when I pop the hood though!
