Default My car, cut in two

Time to say bon voyage to my 740 parts car.

I sold the front clip, and not having much time, or inclination, to strip the whole car, I elected to simply cut it in two.

A sawzall will cut through this thing like butter. I did this about two weeks ago, hence the rust.

Now, I'm sure, you're wondering what the back half of the car looked like.

Incidentally, it's here until wednesday, and you're welcome to have anything you like off of it if you stop by to claim the booty. ARgh.

And, finally, my favorite picture of the car: the cheap bodywork that was done at some point, falling apart. In fact, the rear edge of the car was cut off and replaced, poorly...

we've used reciprocating saws, extricating patients out of car wrecks. Nothing beats the Jaws of life though. For an exercise we cut a 3rd door into a 2 door car to access the back seat

Oh man....You should see that car in person, the body is unbelievable. Rockers rusted through, dents everywhere. Thankfully it's not on the road anymore.

    It's a '91 535/5, too.

The funniest thing about that car is that the owner had a fake (?) name painted on the driver's front door, just below the glass....in blue and purple paint.

    ...yeah...

Huuh, I could have used many parts of the 740, such as the facelift center console with the ashtray and the wood. Too late.
Is the blue polishing cloth still in the trunk tool box? That you can send me as present
Tell me when you cut the next one ;-)

Haha, sorry Erich, I heard other cries of disappointment for cutting the center console. But it was a mess, not worth saving. I saved the ash tray, nothing else.

I wish I had a picture of the trunk floor in this car. I, unfortunately, locked the trunk while removing the actuator, and I don't feel like drilling out the cylinder to open it again.

Point is, the hacks who did the bodywork on this car didn't take the time to straighten the floor, it is crumpled bad enough that there are cracks in the spare tire well and the spare no longer fits. Amateur night bodywork.

They also didn't take the time to install the tool kit or lining on the trunk lid, so none of that stuff was there.
