What do you mean by "dirty"?
A partial fluid change might be a good idea. I think flushing it, unless it's routinely been done, is a bad idea.
Hi all,
I'm fighting with a dirty 5HP30. From what my mechanic says, doing a full flush could damage its sensitive electric valves. I'm thinking about disconnecting an oil cooler hose and putting it in a bucket. I'll start the car and pump new oil in through the fill hole in the bottom as the trans pushes the old fluid out the cooler hose. As long as I keep enough fluid in the pan (defined by BMW as fluid running out the fill hole) I should be okay. Right??? Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks!
Paul

follow the ZF program rules dude, only replace the fluid that drains out with the proper fresh fluid when you change the filter every 30k miles. Thats about 3~4 quarts and only use an OEM filter to reduce problems with leaky 'O' rings on aftermarket brands.
