I'm suprised that it's a left hand drive. It must have been a special order, especially with those wheels. 48k CAD landed is about 20k GBP. There seem to be a few (immaculate) E34 M5's pushing 17k GBP around but not many and they have a good few miles on them. The interior shot of that one looks pretty new and unused.

I wonder what the story behind it is? It was never going to be rare enough to warrant a speculative investment and this one was made well after the crash of "classic" car speculations of the late '80's.

Reminds me of the Jaguar XJ220. A lot of them were moth-balled when new as an investment, they are now worth a lot less than the the 60-70k milers as they cost a fortune to make useable. I recently heard a story of someone winding miles on to their 220 in order to sell it. Who knows (I don't know anyone with a Japanese import that had a documented history) maybe the mileage on this one is genuine?

According to the ad Panda, the car was garaged in a BMW dealership in Japan and forgotten about until now.

Many cars in Japan are imported as LHD, even though Japan is a RHD country, because LHD "prestige" cars are seen as more classy/valuable/etc.

I didn't know about the LHD prestige thing but it makes sense.

I'm sure I've forgotten about a pair of shoes in a wardrobe somewhere, if only I could find them. I'm kind of hoping that my dad left a DB4 GT in his.

How do you "forget" that you might have an M5 around somewhere?

Either a rollback or every other hose is rotted.

    I'd still buy it.
