So my son & I did new front struts & control arm bushings on his 89 535i today & I noticed a 2nd hole for the front lower control arm mount. I test fit the outer hole just for fun & noticed it significantly altered the front camber. His car is bone stock so I put it back together the way it was.
Has anyone tried setting theirs up on the outer position with a suspension mod? Just curious.

that would be a huge adjustment
probably close to -3* camber
i have seen applications where people have grinded mountings out to a cam shape for adjustment, or even used smaller bolts, but the proper way to go about it would be an adjustable upper strut mount (camber plate)
You're right, it would be a bit radical. I took a look at my 7 and sure enough, they're bolted to the outer holes. Cross-referencing the part in the ETK they use the exact same front subframes in the e32 & e34 so that explains the 2 sets of holes. The wider stance of the 7 lets them use the same part on both series with the other holes.
