Default 525 touring 3rd brake light

Has anybody out there tried to replace the 3rd brake light bulbs in the deck lid with l.e.d.'s.

    Thanks, Edward

Default I was thinking about it

but I am looking for a spare assembly so if it freaks the CCM out I don't have to run it until I get the resistance right.

I wondered about that Bob, so you think the resistance of the led's has to equal that of the bulbs or it will screw up the computer?

Default You get a brake light error

    in the dash.

CCM is very sensitive, so the LED set up has to mimick the old one.

    Or you modify the CCM.
Some people in Japan have done it.
    But you need electronic skills.
Have seen such a thing on one of the japanese E34 tech tips pages.

I repaired mine with some used bulbs based on an old post here. Tried like hell to source the bulbs from other than the dealer at something like four bucks a crack and came up zippo.
A bit of a pain in the arse trying to solder if the board has corroded too.
I suppose if you were able to match the impedance of the leds with what the LKM expects to see it ought to work.
My advice, bite the bullet if you really want all the bulbs lit.

They are incandescent bulbs, little tiny ones that the Bavarians charge $4 for.
