Whining

My car whines through the gears even at idle, but when i push in the clutch it goes away. Im putting in the new clutch tomorrow. Im hoping the noise is the throw out bearing. Any guidance will be great. thanks it is a 89 bmw 525.

Yes that was the first thing that I checked. I changed it with brand new fluid when i first heard the noise.

nail on head, that decribes the clutch release bearing every time. was lucky it went before not after the clutch job so you can renew it while your there.
