    Default Wheel hop!

Anyone now how to get rid of wheel hop. Can't get any normal traction in first as wheels just keep jumping up. Springs and shocks are new. Had the same issue with old springs and shocks also. Wheels are 16" with 225/50, if it makes any difference, but it doesn't as I've changed during last year from 17" to 16" to 15" (for winter) and now different set of 16" with tires from 195 to 245.
Car is 535 '91. Same problem with my E28 535 turbo.

    Thanks!

Or maybe try an adjustable cam gear to dial the timing up the band.

Default May be simple, but lower tire pressure?

I sure wouldn't use your head Martin, too small!

Tire pressure doesn't change much, have tried.

IRS causes wheel hop. That's why most of these guys with the 2003 Mustang Cobras switch back to the solid axle, less hop.

Wheel hop, as I remember is caused when the tires and surface slip slightly (duh) such as when you increase the rear gears for more low end. Now if you put a higher gear in it the tire either wont spin or will spin faster on the surface eliminating the "hop" effect.

Some things you can try that have worked are a thicker sidewall tire with less pressure such as the stock 15's, A stiffer rear swaybar in a traditional type car has worked, different compound tires, the shocks may be too stiff along with stiffer springs all contribute to the hop deal.

Racecars will put a retard spark advance at the launch to control violent shake and also some will take off in 2nd gear. Some cars only run 2 speeds and only race in the secong gear to eliminate shake (as compared to "hop"). Shake in a Nitromethane car can cause the driver to go unconcious...just a FYI.
