Does anyone know where I can get a used piston for a 1989 BMW 520i M20 engine to buy? It is a 2Litre engine.I blew my head gasket, cracked my cylinder head and damaged one piston.

to find a good running used motor and do a swap.

What were your symptoms as the head gasket blew? Did the car overheat? Obviously the coolant in oil, oil in coolant. My '90 525i just blew its head gasket, but the car never overheated. It still starts, runs a little goofy, but it runs.Originally Posted by julielewis

I saw smoke coming from the engine and the car just shut down. I could not get it to start afterwards. The oil and coolant levels were okay when I checked. There was coolant in the oil also.

Interesting. Mine had the usuals, but it wouldn't overheat. It still starts up now as well, i had to move it earlier.
