Default M50 E34 Major Oil Leak Help!!!!

The o rings are leaking on my oil filter assemly. The ETK shows a different picture and mine doesn't have items 8,9,10. The assembly is called Aggregate Support w/ oil filter. My local shops are stumped. We tried several o rings and none seal. The orignal ones cross section are almost rectangular with rounds edges where US standard orings have a round cross section. So the caps have some lateral movement when the snap rings are installed. I guess this movement is the difference in the cross sections width. I have tons of picture. I been calling bone yards to just buy the whole ass'y but no one havs one....help

That looks to be the oil filter housing off a VANOS m50 engine, even though yours is only a 91 and wouldn't have the vanos system. Even looking at that i cannot see those seals. I'd try taking to a hydraulics/hvac shop, they tend to have access to some bizarre seals.

Hmmm, thats unfortunate. I had a leak at one of the caps, but was able to find a 10 cent, round profile O-ring at Canadian Tire (I believe) that fit. Are you sure the square profile is not simply from the old crusty O-ring being jammed in the square profile groove for 15 years?

If you really need it, I might be coerced into removing one from my housing and possibly finding a match. However, for now I'd ask that you keep shopping around for the right size

i thought it may have been worn and dried that way but theres a parting line right down the middle like it was produced that way and the shape is uniform all the way around. If it was aged into the shape it think it wouldn't be so uniform. i also used a .10 oring but it only held for a few days. I started thinking the seat is worn. also the lateral movement (play) of the cap.maybe (2) 0.10 cent o-rings staked?

I'll check whether mine have play. I find it hard to believe the seats would wear. My car is high mileage and new rings fixed it goodly. I dunno, maybe a fatter O-ring??? I'll get back to you.
