17" or 18"? If they're 17's... 235/45, 255/40 is a safe combination, even lowered.

I'm running the replicrap throwing stars. I'm thinking about doing 265/45 in the rear and 245/45 in the front. Any comments/suggestions, positive or negative? 95 540i 6 spd. It's lowered 1.3/1.0 f/r. Fairly certain the wheel is 8.5 inches wide.

I think all throwing stars are 17. The car is lowered about F/R 1.3/1 with a vanilla Bilstein/H&R package.
Hans, below is 235/45-17, 255/40-17 on BBS #5's, lowered 1.5/1. It's a nicely balanced setup!Originally Posted by Hans Stuck

I think the 265/40x17 would be a better match. But not sure whose tires are available in that size. easier to find a 255/40.
here's a site to compare tire sizes:

don't forget to check the offsets.
Nice, thanks guys. Your car looks great, Duey. hmmm, I wonder if tire rack gives BMW CCA members a discount...
Thanks Hans. I think you might be able to put 265/35's under the rear wheels...I believe some guys may have those on their E34's, but you would likely have to have the inner rear fenders rolled. My fronts were rolled by the first owner to take the drop. Rears aren't. You'd also want to take some careful measurements for the rears...especially offset. There wont be a lot of play either inwards or outwards with 265's. Let us know how you decide to go...Originally Posted by Hans Stuck
