Did he just give them the key code or actual VIN?

He did not mention that, but I believe he just gave them the only key he had.

I imported 2 spare blank keys from Hongkong for 10 $ for my Highline, as I also only have one key for that car.
Went to the local japanese " Mr. Minit" with well equipped shop and he made it for me too based on the only key I have and brought as sample.
25 $ a piece I had to pay.

Fairfax lock and key Cincinnati OH $25

went to the dealer and said I need another key. The parts lady (Linda) said I can charge you 65 and send it to Fairfax Lock and key or you can go to Fairfax Lock and Key yourself and pay $25 Whatever you want to do.
