Fuel economy of M30 730i vs M5x 728i (e38)

I am just toying idea about e38 728i...

so comparing e32 730i vs e38 728i:
- fuel consumption?
- parts cost?
- ease of DIY maintenance?
- expected lifetime?

Thanks... appreciate it... yup, there's some savings on fuel consumption...

Next would be on the relative maintenance costs and simpleness... appreciate on comments on maintenance (DIY) of M52 relative to M30 on cost and easiness..
