But the Russians were building cars and selling them as BMWs, after the war for a while using the original Eisenach parts and tooling. BMW had the practice stopped through legal action and from that point on the "B" on the block casting was partially ground off to make it an "E" and the Eisenach emblem was used. Then the owner would re-badge it back to a BMW anyway. The quality was pretty bad though. Ever seen one in person? Even the EMW 328 was a bit rough.
