Default Lights for Shifter in Automatic?

Are they supposed to be on, you know, the D R P letters? Mine are not on when my lights are on, and some of my lights on my thermostat are off as well. Is there something I can check?

Gear Selector has a light? Yes...you need a part......it's called a light bulb...call BMA and tell Patrick you need a gear selector bulb.........It is the size of an ant but you have to remove the plastic cover of the gear selector.....not that bad.. use a Bentley book for review. As for the thermostat bulb, let me know when you find out because mine has been out since I bought it..........I think you have to pull the dash........

Default Try here for thermostat / OBC lights...

You have to remove the console to replace the Gear Selector bulb. I use a couple small suction cups and pull up from front corners. There is a small socket for bulb. I just purchased some small European lights from a local dealer. Worked fine.

Kurt , any screws to undo or only suction to remove the console?
I imagine after removing , the plastic autoshofter cover should be uncovered and easily removed ...right?

Default Tried a screwdriver to pry and ended up chipping...

wood. Mine seems to fit quite snug. The autoshifter slider is connected to bottom of console cover. It coils around front to back. There is also a small plastic orange piece that fits in clear channel to illuminate white gear your are in. If you need to replace sliding cover BMA and the dealer carry them for around $5.

the no-damage way i prefer to do it is by removing the a/m switch, and sticking my fingers as far backward as they can go, and pulling up. backward=toward emergency brake.

Default My A/M switch won't come out from the front or top..

I have to lift console, disconnect the plug, remove console and then switch will come out.

there's enough wire on mine so that it can be lifted 1 or 2 inches above the console, which is enough space for me to stick my fingers under it with it still connected.
