    Default squeaky alternator?

I get a squeak and my belts are fine but it sounds like bearings... Alternator? What are the usual suspects?
Ifd you're looking down into the hood from the drivers side (US car, M20 525i) It's in the far front passenger corner, front as in by headlight. Is that the alternator?

I'm not familiar with the M20, but if your belts are fine and you are still getting a belt type squeak, check your alternator bushings. they could have degraded and allwed your alternator to move out of alignment. if so, replace them with some polyurethane units. just grab hold of the alternator and see if it has any play.
