Okay guys,
I have done the search thing and haven't come up with the plethora of knowledge I was hoping so maybe you folks can provide me with some sage and pertinate advice.

I own an E34 and love it to death, a very competent car, especially on long trips. A 540 or M5 would top it off but then I wouldn't enjoy the great gas mileage I get with my "unloved" 530. I don't drive it on a daily basis and use it more for longer trips and special occasions.

For a daily I want to get an E36 and unload my '91 Acura Legend. The Legend is geared for the 55 mph speed limit and coupled with a 3.2 V6 only gets about 23 MPH on a good day. It gets there quick though!! ( Anyone want to trade?)

My thoughts are picking up an E36 318i or iS, preferrably a stick. I have been told they get upwards of 30 MPG if you don't wip them too hard.

The down sides?

A) You have to wip them anyway just to get any where so you might as well get a 325?.

B) What IS the scoop on the dreaded profile gasket?

C) Timing belt or chain?

D) The prices for a 318 are just about the same as 325's. Should I just get a 325 and call it good?

Suggestions are welcome.

As I have said before, this site is great and I really enjoy reading it.
Thanks, DJ
