    Default what is this part?

The hose was shot a long time ago, but it was just brought to my attention today. I don't think any liquid goes through the hose connected to the bottom of the silver thing, because I'm sure in the condition the hose is in no liquid would stay in it (especially under any kind of presure)...

another downer is that his small hose under the silver thing (I pointed out one of the possible holes in the hose) rubs/touches the underside of the lower radiator hose.

The hose itself is pretty short (8-10 inches max)

    It's from a 95/530iM

Looks like hose for the 'valve' of the emission control air pump?

    Here's my source:

Gonna see right now if I have that thingy, pretty sure I don't
edit: Nope, I don't got one of those...

And, you're correct, no fluid will travel thru that,
    my understanding of the system:
When the engine is cold/in warm up mode, the air pump will pump some of the engine's exhaust fumes into the intake of the engine, to warm it up faster/cut down on polution or something.

I think that's probably it.... I was searching through real oem, but couldn't find anything... at least this will give me something to start with... I've got something like this on my 99 gmc sierra (EGR - Exhuast Gas Recirculation).... there are ways to totally just by pass the valve on the sierra... I'll probably just end up getting a new bit of hose.
