    Default belly plate off to change manual trans fluid?

    Do you have to take that whole thing off to get to the transmission? thanks

    No, Scott. But you will need one of those suction pumps to do it. The fill and drain plugs are a few inches apart, one slightly higher than the other, on the left forward side of the 6-sp.

    Thanks Duey. I was looking for the 17mm hex sockets that Bentley shows. Glad I spent the afternoon looking for one. I'll be returning that later in the week. Plugs were in so tight I had to use my foot to loosen them. I just used a tube that attaches to the mobil 1 bottle and squeezed real hard. worked. Made only a little mess relative to some of my bigger messes

    The first time I changed the fluid, I found the drain right away but couldn't find the fill (although I was staring right at it ) Mine were tight as well.

    I find the bonus to the suction pump is the ability to also clear all the old oil out of the bottom of the filter cannister/holder that doesn't otherwise drain out.
