Default Do you cover your car?

I searched but didn't find that many posts; surprising considering the zillion choices in car covers out there.

Here's my problem - SoCal, 2 mi from the beach = DUST by day and marine layer (fog) by night.

I come out to a car covered in 'mud'. It's almost enough to reduce a man to tears.

Worse yet, it's a black car, which turns tears into uncontrollable sobing. LOL

Does anyone use outside covers and want to offer me advice?

I heard covering a car does not do any good to the car's finish. When there is wind, cover will only rub the dirt on to the finish and damage the clear coat. I got this info in the internet somewhere and sounds logical to me.

I bought a Wolf NOAH Universal fit for about $135.00.I park near woods with both pine and oak which have acorns. The cover will keep a fallsing achorn from denting and keep pine sap off the pain and glass etc but in heavey rain moisture will penetrate so it isn't completly dry afterwards.
